(Cleveland) -- Wind gusts of 60 miles an hour or more Tuesday afternoon brought down numerous trees across Greater Cleveland, and to the shock of motorists on the I-480 Valley View bridge, winds also brought down three overhead highway signs.
Callers to the Mike Trivisonno Show on WTAM 1100 say they saw the signs on westbound 480 suddenly come down from their overhead gantry and hit the road. Witnesses say at least one car was hit by one of the signs. Other witnesses say they saw at least one vehicle hood lifted up by the wind. Those winds and how they blew around vehicles and blew down the signs, caused a multi-vehicle wreck at the height of rush hour.
Amanda Lee of the Ohio Department of Transportation tells WTAM 1100 the three overhead signs have been removed from the roadway, and a decision will be made in coming days as to when they'll be replaced.
