Human remains found in CVNP

(Boston Twsp.) - Cuyahoga Valley National Park rangers confirm that a human jaw was found by two hikers Monday.

Additional bones were found Tuesday, including a portion of a skull. Some clothing was also discovered although investigators can not tell whether they are mens' or womens' items.

The FBI Evidence Response Team is gathering the remains and the clothing in the remote area. The FBI ERT was asked to conduct the search Tuesday morning. The FBI says they are an assisting agency.

National Park Service Chief Ranger Chris Ryan says they do no know the cause of death although they're investigating the case as a homicide until proven otherwise.

Ryan also says it unknown if the person died in the park or elsewhere.

CVNP encompasses 33,000 acres along the Cuyahoga River between Cleveland and Akron, Ohio. Managed by the National Park Service, CVNP combines cultural, historical, recreational, and natural activities in one setting.
