Jimmy Dimora is back in town

(Cleveland) - Jimmy Dimora has returned to Cleveland. WTAM News has confirmed that the former Cuyahoga County commissioner is being held in the Cuyahoga County Jail.

There is speculation Dimora may have been brought here to testify before a grand jury which may be hearing new corruption charges.

Dimora was being held at Federal Correctional Institution Gilmer in Glenville, West Virginia. It is located 150 miles from Pittsburgh. That's where Dimora is to serve out his corruption sentence until it ends on July 28th, 2036.

Cleveland criminal defense attorney Marty Keenan is not connected to Dimora but speculates the former commissioner may have offered to testify in another corruption case or cases, in hopes of having time taken off his sentence.

Keenan says it’s very common for convicts to become snitches after they have had time to think about the long sentence they are facing. However, they are not as credible because they are providing testimony for something in return.

Keenan tells Newsradio WTAM 1100, prosecutors may be looking to charge more corruption figures before the 6 year statute of limitations expires.
